Apparently, we are supposed to have our house numbers on our "neighborhood all matches and you have to purchase them from the developer" mailboxes. The mailbox sits on a really nice black iron decorative post. It should be since it cost $400.00. Anyway, I was having a hard time finding numbers because most of them are black (which obviously wouldn't show up on a black mailbox) or they are the reflective gold ones. Well, those gold ones were just not going to work out for me. So... I grabbed my SW Sycamore Tan leftover house paint and used a paper towel to paint over the black ones. Much better. Then I used the same paint to paint over our navy "South Carolina palm tree" mailbox flag from our old house. You see, we used to have a navy door and navy shutters on our old house so, of course, our mailbox flag was navy. Our friend started this mailbox flag company while his pregnant wife of only about one year was dying of cancer. They came up with the idea while he was staying with her in the hospital. She passed away along with his unborn child. He continued on to get a patent for their idea, and donates part of the money he makes to cancer research. So incredibly inspiring!
Kinda large, but I like them.
I couldn't find any outdoor pillows that I loved, so I just made some. I found these red ticking stripe napkins on clearance at Pottery Barn, and they just happened to match the red ticking stripe ribbon that I am going to put on the wreath that I am making for my front door. Since I don't know how to sew (MUST take lessons), I just safety pinned them together. I figured it was a good idea since I would need to take them off to wash them:)
They were just too darn plain, so I decided to hot glue this trim on them.
Much better, but I think I am going to have to add a big fat monogram to them.
Here's the goodies for the wreath. Notice the ribbon? I'll have to post the finished wreath later. I don't think I'm ever going to run out of projects that I want to do for my house!! I'm lovin' being crafty again!!
